Father gambro endowed scholarship fund

Father Gambro Endowed Scholarship Established with $100,000!

We are pleased to announce that the Father Gambro Endowed Scholarship has been established with $100,000 invested into the fund! With an initial goal of $25,000, we were humbled and amazed as many alumni and friends stepped up with gifts that helped meet an additional $50,000 Matching Challenge from an anonymous alumni donor. The outpouring of support for Father Gambro will continue to impact the BL Community and generations of students. We celebrated together at a special reception in Chicago during Friars Weekend, Friday September 5th, 2014. Father Gambro enjoyed sharing memories and visiting with many friends as the special announcement was made.

Please join us in support of BL Students and in honor of Father Gambro!

Father John M. Gambro, O.P., was among nine Dominican friars from Fenwick High School in Oak Park, IL who helped establish Bishop Lynch High School in 1963. He impacted the lives of many BL students as a leader and a teacher through 1978. Father Gambro returned to Fenwick High School before retiring in 2002, and today lives in Chicago.

In our 50th Anniversary year, 2013-14, a group of dedicated alumni and friends determined to establish an endowed scholarship at BL in honor of Father Gambro. This scholarship fund will distribute an annual percentage of the investment total, ensuring a sustainable, perpetual source of tuition assistance for deserving BL students.
