Credit Recovery

If a student needs to make up an academic deficiency and the summer school course is offered at Bishop Lynch, a student must take the course at Bishop Lynch. Successful completion of the summer school course results in the student receiving credit for the course. Grades in summer courses taken to clear deficiencies are not averaged into the GPA. Grades in courses taken for credit in advance are included in the determination of the GPA. Course offerings and schedules for the summer of 2021 will be available mid-May. A parent login must be used to register for credit recovery.

A TIME TO SUCCEED!

The Summer Enrichment Program at Bishop Lynch is designed for those students who have been identified by their ISEE test results and educational record to have a need for additional preparation before entering high school-level Math and/or English. The curriculum is focused on identifying problem areas that need to be addressed. If not corrected, these issues may cause a student to have a difficult freshman year. If your child has a weaker ability in Math and/or English skills, the Admissions Committee will require that your student successfully complete the Summer Enrichment Program, with an average of at least a 75%, in order to be admitted to the freshman class. Summer Enrichment is used as a tool to aid in placement for courses in the fall.

CLASS SCHEDULE - JUNE 7 - JULY 1, 2021

The Summer Enrichment Program offers classes in English and Math. A student may be placed in one or both depending on his or her skill level. Each class is 2-1/2 hours in length. Classes are in session Monday through Thursday. Session I begins at 7:30 am and Session II begins at 10:30 am. The classes are taught by Bishop Lynch faculty members. Students are only allowed ONE absence during the duration of the summer program. All BL COVID-19 health and safety protocols (including masking) will be followed. For classes that meet in-person, in-person learning is the only option. Blended synchronous learning will not be offered during the summer.

TUITION

Tuition for Summer Enrichment is $200 for one course and $300 for both. If the student is not required to take both courses, he/she may enroll voluntarily, provided that space is available, to strengthen skills. Students will not be allowed to register for Summer Enrichment until they have completed the online registration for the 2021-2022 school year. Summer Enrichment registration must be completed online and will be available beginning March 24, 2021. Registration deadline is May 1, 2021.

ADMISSIONS DECISIONS

At the end of the Summer Enrichment Program, the Admissions Committee will meet with the teachers and administrators involved in the program to assess each student’s progress. Based on the student’s performance, one of the following decisions will be made:

1) The applicant was very successful, maintaining an average of 90% or better for the entire course of the program.
That student may be recommended for regular level classes.

2) The applicant continues to need the support of a slower pace and would benefit from placement in essentials level Math and/or English.

3) The applicant has not shown that he/she has the ability, effort and/or citizenship needed to succeed at Bishop Lynch and will not be offered admission.
